  1. Ceaser salad.

  2. Veggie kebabs are a great idea, if you have a clean grill.  Fruit kebabs are good, too, but don't brush them with honey as most vegans don't eat it (because it's an animal product.)  Boca makes a vegan burger that's pretty good in a pinch.  Just look for buns without honey, egg or milk (including whey.)  If someone grilled me up a Boca burger and a veggie kebab, I'd be perfectly thrilled with that.  And it wouldn't be extra trouble; you could make a bunch of veggie kebabs as everyone can eat them.

(Skull Kid - caesar dressing is not vegan at all - it's made with anchovies and egg.)

  3. I agree with Mellers, although I would make sure that the kebabs are the first thing to go on the barbecue. I don't think your vegan friend would be too happy if you slapped them on the grill after cooking your meaty things...Have a great day.

  4. Vegan burgers, beans&rice,

  5. A portabello mushroom is another option. It grills up like a burger and is eaten the same way. I simply brush with a little bit of olive oil, sprinkle on a little bit of garlic powder and thyme and  then grill. It is very quick and easy to make.

  6. check on the vegan website for ideas and recipes for your BBQ.

google search for vegan or vegetarian recipe.

check if they can eat quorn, cos then you can have  Quorn burgers and Quorn sausages from Walmart, Asda.

Otherwise its veggie kebabs or try stuffed peppers with pine nuts, brown rice and soya, keep it in foil near the BBQ till your friend is ready.

If your having a BBQ then make sure you have servers and spatulas which have not been used with the frying meat or gravy which is mde from stock.  I never like that when I am at BBQ and see it.

  7. I agree with the others here on the vegetarian burgers and sausages. They're easy to cook, they fit the atmosphere, they won't look out of place and they taste great. As mentioned don't contaminate them with meat juices so either cook them first or on a different surface.

BTW you're awesome for doing it cause I always have to bring my own stuff, most meat eaters I know aren't that nice and/or switched on.

  8. Sweetcorn - wrapped in silver foil and put in the coals to cook is really delicious, as are spuds put in the coals too.  Grilled Aubergine - tasty.  Pasta is always another good thing for veggies/vegans (as long as it isn't egg pasta).  You can put a bit of olive oil and balsamic vinegar with it and some roasted peppers and sun dried tomatoes.

Why not get some peppers, cherry tomatoes, red onion, courgette and mushrooms, brushed with oil on skewers to make kebabs - you can do this with fruit too, only brush them with honey instead!

Good luck and have a good barbecue x*x

  9. tell the person to bring their own food.

  10. Here are ideas that take little preparation (but can also be made up in advance) and just pop on the BBQ.

I saw barbequed lettuce on TV today! Okay, I admit it seems strange but it looked oddly nice, it was a gem lettuce cut in half with a little oil on it.

Veggie kebabs are obvious but fantastic! Mushrooms, peppers and things like that work well. Marinade them in seasoned or garlic oil for extra flavour. Fruit can also taste fantastic barbequed.

One thing I love is big tomatoes with the top cut off then hollowed out and stuffed with chopped onion, basil and cheese (but obviously you would have to use vegan cheese in this case) and put the top back on, wrap in tin foil and BBQ.

You can probably find some vegan burgers and sausages but they sometimes fall to bits on the BBQ. I always serve plenty of salad, jacket potato and things like that and meet-eaters and vegetarians alike always have it on the side of their plate. Most importantly make sure it is not cooked on the same BBQ as meet.

Hope the weather stays nice for you.

  11. You can buy vegan burgers or sausages if you're really pushed.

Corn on the cob is delicious barbecued.

Chop tofu into cubes and marinade in olive oil, a few dashes of soy sauce and a little tomato puree; put onto skewers with veg of your chice - onions, red peppers, mushrooms, courgettes. These kebabs are delicious barbecued, but make plenty as in my experience meat-eaters eat them all!

  12. Although the barbecue has probably already taken place, here's a veggie burger recipe I made at a friend's barbecue (they're not vegan, I had to make my own food)  that is also vegan. These are quick, tasty, can be grilled like the other meats and keep you full.

  13. vegetable kebabs always go down well, and as lo-mcg has said the meat eaters love them too, so everyone would be happy! For your fruit kebabs, use cubed mango, pineapple, red and white grapes, apricots and peaches, lay them in fruit juice if making beforehand to stop the fruit going brown. DONT put Honey on them, vegans do not eat Honey, drizzle them with maple syrup or golden syrup before putting on the BBQ.

As a side dish, make a savoury rice, with sweetcorn, kidney beans, spring onions, cherry tomatoes and orange pepper, very colourful and tasty, and also a dish of salad.  All these dishes will be enjoyed by the meat eaters as well! :)

  14. Couscous

    Grilled portabella mushrooms.

  15. For the littlest amount of work, you can get ready made meat alternatives that will go with your bbg theme. These are really cheap and taste amazing...

    These are also good...

Maybe topped with this (you can ask them to put them in the same freexer box instead of a chilled one)...

Ooh and maybe these on some kebabs with veggies...

Or just stick with the other suggestions on here. I'm sure whatever you serve, your vegan friend will appreciate the effort you've put in. Have a great bbq :o)

Oh by the way, if you do order from that shop, stock up on other stuff. If you spend over £30 you get free shipping. They have some great products on there... even for meat eaters.

  16. You could marinate tofu in yoghurt with spices such as paprika, cayenne peper, salt, herbs sesame seeds and soy sauce and put them on skewers with vegetables such as red, green and yellow peppers and courgettes. You could brush the vegetables with olive oil and season it well and add a bit of sugar which makes it taste that little bit better, but make sure it is unrefined, because some sugars can be rubbed on bone char. You could also wrap sweetcorn and sweet potatoes in foil and cook it slowly over the bbq and season it slightly. You could make some vege burgers or buy vegan ones and put them in baps with hummous or some other dip. For dessert, you could put different fruits on skewers-pineapple and peach works particularly well and dust it with icing sugar so it caramelises a little. Otherwise, you could make banana split by chopping a few cashew nuts and other nuts that you like and carob, which I think is suitable for vegans. Let that melt on it and top it with the nuts. Leave the cream and icecream out because it contains milk and cream. It is less fattening and just as good! Hope I helped!

  17. Definitely try Mellers! My family isn't vegan but they LOVE them! I would also try to grill some vegetables. It's really easy and the key is to season them really well(you can also marinate them). There are vegan meats out there that you can grill. But if you do decide to grill those, here's a tip:

You may need to keep your eye them, more than other things you may be grilling. They tend to cook much faster!
