My son is turning 7 this weekend and we're having his birthday party at the zoo. There is going to be about 20 people that i need to provide lunch to, and I'm trying to come up with the most cost effective thing to serve. The only thing i have thought of is making sandwiches (getting a sandwich platter and sides) and maybe some potato salad, but I'm also trying to make it interesting. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Honestly, i would just serve pizza....kids love it, adults love it, and you can get a good deal when you order for a ton. Then just make a potato salad and a tray of cheese and crackers or vegetables if you want.

  2. hot dogs, tuna, peanuts, chips, pizza, and cake ice cream

  3. you might let them "build-a-hot dog" with an array of toppings to chose from: different types of grated cheeses. chili. relish. mustard. ketchup. honey mustard. bacon. mayo. BBQ sauce. ? you can find long, natural casing franks at the deli counter.

  4. hey well im yound and love birthday partys...hehe...but like make sure its food your kid and his friends will eat...if it has weird colors or something i doubt they'll eat it...try some things like peanut butter and banana sandwichs...then on that platter put some monkey snd elephant statues around teh sandwichs stuff lilke that...trust me kids like tastey-ness and funn food..but not weird

  5. sandwich platter is a good idea. even fruits or cookies and graham crackers!! also, juice boxes are a good idea. Whatever you do, NO pizza! serving 7 year olds pizza isn't fun it always ends up all over. They end up wearing it instead of eating it.

  6. get a watermelon , cantaloupe, honeydew and  grapes.  Use a melon baller for the melons.  slice the top off the watermelon and  after you make the watermelon balls, zig zag the edges and put all the fruit inside.  garnish with kiwi slices.

  7. I'm  akid and how about animal shaped chicken nuggets- that'd be cheap from the grocery store and cheap- How about animal crackers?   cheetoes, cheesy feet, zoo fruit snacks, peanut butter with raisens are ants on a log as a side, pretty cheap too, zebra snack cakes from little debbie,  I like jimmy johns sandwiches and you can get those pre  made in a "kid size" 3 inch on a platter my mom says for cheaper than the meat tray in a group of 15 or 30.  kids dont like potato salad too much. You could make pbj and cut them like bats or another cookie cutter animal shape, kids love no crusts.  have fun my birthday is this week too, but I'm going to be 9.

  8. everything fatty!

8 buckets of KFC, 45 big macs, 20 pizzas, 50 litres of coke, 7 birthday cakes, 90 meat pies, everything fried ... oh wait, im listing what im having for lunch.

invite me to your party if theres a lot of food.

  9. Animal Party Food

Swamp Juice – Turn green Gatorade into a steamy swamp! After you've poured a glass, add a few Pop Rock candies. It will crackle, pop and spit when it hits the punch. Awesome!

Ladybug Sandwiches – Take sandwich bread, remove the crusts and cut into to circles with a round cookie cutter. Spread a light coating of butter to one side of bread circles. On half of the bread circles add peanut butter. Top these with another bread circle, then add about 2 teaspoon of red jam or jelly and spread over the top of the bread. Cut raisins in half and place them around on the top of sandwich to resemble a ladybug. Add some cucumber sandwiches to resemble leaves. Cut sandwich bread in rounds or leaf shapes; lightly cover each round with butter or 1 teaspoon of whipped cream cheese, or cheese spread. Top each round with a thin cucumber slice.

Jungle Sandwiches – Use cookie cutters to make animal-shaped finger sandwiches.

Monkeys on a Stick – Push a craft stick into a peeled banana. Coat the banana in dipping chocolate or peanut butter and roll in peanuts or chocolate sprinkles. Freeze and serve. (Beware of peanut allergies.)

Animal Cookies – This is a popular treat that can be made using any sugar cookie dough recipe and animal cookie cutters. The kids would have fun decorating their own cookies at the party, too.

Ants on a Log  Ã¢Â€Â“ Wash celery and cut it into pieces (about 5 inches long). Spread peanut butter or cheese spread (get the type in a can with the nozzle) on the celery, from one end to the other. Press raisins into the top. You might want to make both types in case you have kids who are allergic to peanuts.

Worm Sandwiches – Cut hot dogs into slices lengthwise and boil or microwave until the slices curl like wiggly worms. Serve on hamburger buns.

Pizza Snakes – Simply roll out the refrigerated pizza dough in the form of a snake you want. Add pizza sauce, toppings, and an olive for the eye. Bake at 425°F for 6-8 minutes.

  10. a great thing to serve the guests would be chips with dip. everyone likes it and it is quick to serve.

  11. have you asked your son what he'd like? My son wanted mac-n-cz for his 6th. My daughter wanted pizza for hers. We've also done breakfast quiche, enchilladas, poppyseed chicken, hawaiian haystacks(cheap and easy-everyone builds their own). I always let my kids choose their birthday dinner.

  12. Who are you feeding kids or parents?

  13. Is there a Subway where you live? I did that for my 5 year olds party pretty reasonably priced and good. What about pizza? I always do hot dogs and potatoe salad but IDK how you would heat them or whatever? But you should check out Subway if there is one by you, there is a party package and it really is reasonable. Hope this helps and have fun.

  14. hot dogs with chili chips and dip juice for the little ones and soda for the parents . nad then your cake
