  1. Let the width be 'x'. Then the length will be 1.4*x (* means multiply).  Now the perimeter of a rectangle is 2*(length+width). So we'll get an equation i.e. 26=2*(1.4x+x). By solving this equation you will get the length=7.6mts. & width=5.4mts. I hope that it will help u.

  2. Perimeter is a sum of all the sides of the rectangle

    That means, Length + Length + Width + Width

    Or 2 times Length + 2 times Width

    According to your question:

    Length = 1.4 times Width

    So, put this into your equation for perimeter

    Length + Length + Width + Width = Perimeter

    1.4*Width + 1.4*Width+Width+Width  = Perimeter

    4.8*width = 26

    Width = 26 / 4.8

    Width = 5.417 metres

    Length = 1.4 times Width

    Length = 1.4 times 5.417

    Length = 7.583 metres

    Voila!

  3. let X = width of rectangle

    Perimenter = 2*Length + 2* Width

                     = 2(1.4X) + 2X = 26

    Solve for X

  4. L=length

    W=width

    26 = 2L + 2W

    1.4L=W

    26 = 2L + 2(1.4L)

    26 = 2L + 2.8L

    26 = 4.8L

    5.412 = L

    1.4L = W

    1.4(5.4) = W

    W = 7.56

    L = 5.41

  5. L=length

    W=width

    P=perimeter

    L=1.4W

    P=2L+2W

    26=2(1.4W)+2W

    13=2.4W

    W=65/12m

    L=91/12m
