I am noticing what I think are paper wasps in my basement...the first two I saw were crawling on the floor of the basement as if they were sluggish and couldn't fly and were all black with skinny bodies...the one today was flying and buzzing around the laundry room down in the basement and it was the same type of body but the colors were black and yellow...nest in crawl space possibly?...or where could they be coming in from in the basement?...

  1. The black wasps, sounds like carpenter bees. They drill in wood and tunnel in th structure. Look for small sawdust piles. If so call exterminator or spray insectacide for wasps and bees ( i.e. Ortho Products) and plug holes. Cover wood with vynyl or aluminum. Black and yellow wasp sounds like yellowjackets. You may want to search for an opening they are coming in from.

  2. Most likely the have a nest in the wall of your house and are finding their way to the basement and cant get back to the nest.

  3. You should be very careful when dealing with ANY bee. The best thing to do would be to call in a company who specializes in bee removal. Check these guys out: http://alltekbeeremoval.com
