I make her go to the bathroom every couple hours and make her sit on the toilet till she pees she will pee a little then come off the toilet and pee on the floor!! Its driving my husband Nick and I insane and its quite embarrassing out in public if she poops in her pants or pees!

it just started like 2months ago before she was perfectly fine!

  1. This is abnormal behavior for a five year old, even under for a child under stress. I agree, she needs to be evaluated by a psychologist specializing in children. Don't ignore this as just a "stage" or "phase." She could be crying out for some serious help.

  2. I'd have her evaluated by a psychologist to be honest. My in-laws did foster care for years and experienced the same thing with alot of these children

  3. Did you recently have a new baby or something? Maybe she's looking for attention. I would be mad if my doctor said it was "just a phase". She's 5 not 2...this doesn't sound like something that will pass. It sounds more serious than that...like there's a reason behind it. Getting to the root is the only way you're going to fix it.  I'd get a second opinion.

  4. Has anything changed in your life such as a new baby or something? If so I would contribute it to that if not talk to her doctor about suggestions to make her stop. Sounds like she defintely knowingly is doing so for the attention!Consider taking away privilages until she stops having accidents. Such as no cartoons or something she really enjoys doing!Something is causing her to do this to get yours and your hubbys attention!

  5. It sounds like your little girl is thinking that you're not gonna make her use the toilet and she doesn't have to. You need to start disciplining her when she pees anywhere but the toilet. I would suggest that the next time she has an accident and then laughs about it, you should make her sit on the toilet until she uses the toilet. And if she does it, gets off, and then goes on the floor again, just make her get right back on. Soon she'll realize that it's not so funny to have to sit on the toilet all day because she can't behave. I hope this helps!

  6. You mentioned she doesn't know you're pregnant.  That might not be the case.  She might not know exact details, but children can sense when there is a big change.  She might be reacting to that.

As far as a strictly behavioral standpoint, one thing you can do that I didn't see you mention is be sure she takes all the responsibility for cleaning up the mess she made.  Don't clean it up, but definitely give her the towel, mop, and mop bucket to clean it with.  Then she can get her new clothes and take her old clothes to the laundry room.  This will get tiresome eventually and she will at least stop seeing it as a game.

Don't get angry.  Don't get upset.  Don't laugh with her. Just say, "Well...you need to clean it up then."

  7. I would take her to the pediatrician to see if there is a physical reason for this behavior.  Perhaps the doctor can talk to her to see if he/she can figure out why she is doing this.  If it is not physical she may need some counselling.  I had a child who was a bed wetter, but never exhibited any of the other behaviors you mention.   Anything new is her life the last two months...new baby, new friends, etc.?

I just read your last comments and I strongly advise you to get another doctor's opinion.  It is not a stage at the age of five.  She needs a proper evaluation.

  8. my daughter is also 5 yrs old and she has been potty trained since she was about 3.  she has always had a problem with bed wetting, but not daytime wetting and earlier this year she started peeing on herself. she now does this every day a couple of times and i have had to get her from school several time because of this. they now have extra clothes in the office just in case. her dr. says this is normal. i don't see how, but some people say it is that she wants attention or maybe has some kind of stress. i will definitely be watching this for suggestions.
