I'm having hallucinations while I sleep?

I am having these odd hallucinations while I sleep. For example: Waking up and smelling an odd odor so I open my window and then go back to sleep. When I wake up for real, the window is still open.

Last night I had a longer one. I went to a wedding yesterday. When I went to bed last night I had a hallucination that the wedding reception was in my room and I was too tired to party with the guests. So I went back to sleep then woke up again and the party was still going. I moved to a different spot on my bed and then went back to sleep.

I looked information for this on the internet and can't find any cures except going to see a sleep doctor.

Is there any other cure?

  1. I've had this happen before. I don't have an explanation for it, but you're not going "crazy" or anything. I think it is caused by going to sleep, but not sleeping deeply. It's like your sleepwalking. Try some relaxation techniques before going to bed.

  2. I think you're mistaking your dreams as hallucinations.  Hallucinations can be a rather freightening experience, where you experience things (objects and people), hear things that are not there actualy (or the reality).  Hallucinations can be auditory (most common form), visionary (hearing things) and tactile (feeling things on your body).

Some brain disorders and many illegal and legal drugs can induce hallucinations, as can sleep deprivation.  The "antidote" for hallucinations are to slow down the brain activity, calm the person chemically or get a good nights rest.  Good luck!

  3. It's not a curse, just dreams.
