I have a Sony Handycam DCR TRV38 and when I try to import videos to Windows movie maker, it says that it can't find a compatible video device but I've done everything it says to do. What should I do??! The firewire is plugged in properly, I know that much. But I also don't know how to find out if the USB is connected in properly or working.

Help!! Thank you!

  1. This ONLY works if there is ONLY a firewire cord connected from the firewire port on your camcorder to the firewire port on your computer.  Do not use any cables the plug into USB.

Watch the beginning of this video to learn how to make a proper firewire connection: http://motionpicturecentral.com/content/... .  Ignore the part about final cut, but pay attention to what the firewire ports look like in the video.  They will match on your computer.

When properly done, WMM will be able to control the camcorder and capture the video automatically once the process has been started by you in WMM.
