I'm in grade 7, and I needed some questions answered:

1. Is it possible to be homeschooled?

2. Do you need a license to homeschool?

3. My mom is deaf, can she homeschool me?

4. Where do you get a homeschooling license?

5. What are requirements to be homeschooled?

The reasons I ask, is I have social anxiety disorder, and I'm being bullied at school, and I also have a record with the school system. I've been depressed, and all my problems are with the school. Help?!?!?!?

  1. You know....my bf's cousin who lives with her is homeschooled. I don't know alot of the licenses, but she's homeschooled because she always has to go the Doctor's and doesn't have time to go back to school, she goes in the middle of the day or of a morning. She is homeschooled on her computer, and she has to do alot of work and tests and she doesn't have FCAT! (If you know what that is) You probably won't need paper and supplies and stuff since you're doing it online.

  2. Hi I know a lot opeople that home school with a program called EDUSS LEARNING its a computor program www.eduss.com.au have a look at it Cheers

  3. I really don't like bullies. What the school needs to do is do something with that bully so you can go to school normally. Don't  be afraid of the bully, he/she ain't nobody and your better than them. If the school doesn't want to do anything about, you do something about it, You tell that bully to leave you alone or else...violence isn't the answer, but sometimes things aren't done unless you do it. Tell your parents to talk to the bullies parent to get 'em straight. And you won't have to worry about being homeschooled.

  4. I was once bullied to. I later joined a club called S.A.V.E which stands for students against violence everywhere. i would sugggest to talk to your school counselor about this club and for advice.

  5. aww i'm sorry =( maybe you can switch to another school in your area if you can't be homeschooled. good luck ^^

  6. Yes it is definitely possible to be homeschooled.  No license is required, but every state has different laws and requirements.  Here is where you can find laws for your state:

    http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp

Your mom can homeschool you even though she is deaf.  She would communicate with you just as she does now, and at your age, you will also be reading and learning on your own.  She would not be standing at the front of the room lecturing you while you take notes, etc.

There are many different ways to teach/learn while homeschooling.  Here are some different of the different methods and resources:

I am sorry you've been treated badly in school.  You would probably benefit from leaving that negative environment in order to recover from your experiences and gain confidence.  I have found homeschoolers in general to be more friendly and accepting than public school students.

I hope you can find a local support group in your area that will give you an opportunity to have positive social experience.  It is a shame what is happening in some of these schools.  Here's some info on homeschooling support:

    Good luck, dear!

  7. Mom would have to apply to do this.

  8. it is very possible to be homeschooled!!  you can contact your school district and they can help you out step-by-step with that, giving you everything you need to know!!!

I am in 6th grade, and I also have problems like yours, but I just recently started getting better little by little, after I talked to my school counselor!!!!!

  9. Depends on where you live, what the laws are. Someone recommended hslda, definitely look at that. anyway, your answers are

    1.yes

    2.no

3.lots of homeschoolers are deaf or have deaf parents.

4.you don't need a license per se. In some states there are less restrictions if your parents has a degree, or if there is a teachers certificate, but you don't get a license.

5.requirements depend on where you live.

Why don't you post your state so we can offer more advice?

  10. you can ask the people who make the rules about homeschooling if it's OK 2 have ur mom homeschool u. i'm sure SOMEBODY knows

  11. the rules vary from state to state, but most only require that it be your parent and that they have a high school diploma. They do have to file papers with the county board of education stating their intent so that they know you are not truant.  The superintendent's office will help her figure out what has to be taught - such as math requirements, science requirements, etc.

i know you are in a tough situation, and i feel for you. My son has had a lot of issues at school and it is tough on him. Hang in there. You will be ok.

  12. If your mom is deaf there's always cyber school. They usually give you a omputer, and you can still do everything from home. It is the best answer for you and your mom.

    Best of luck!!

    Peace.

  13. Sorry, but I can only answer one question. Your mom could homeschool you. She just needs some kind of communication with you, such as sign language or writing messages on a piece of paper.

  14. 1.Yes

    2.No

3.If you can read sign language and understand what she's teaching you then yes. She has to be willing to help you.

4.You don't need one. You just write the schoolboard telling why you want to be homeschooled.

5.Keep the standereds in your head and pass what test you decide to take.

    P.S.

I was bullied to death and went through very very bad emotional trauma that scard my life. This is my first year and I'm doing it for seventh and eight and that will be enough time for me to build up my self estem and go back for high school. Right now anyways it's working because I am independent. I'm ahead of my grade right now. It's much harder because you actually learn things while in most cases public schools in the USA only study for the FCAT. Discipline is much stricter and I have way more responsibilities. When I grow up I am planning on homeschooling my kids for better curriculum. If you have any more questions you can email me at curlyred08@gmail.com or JDjustme08@yahoo.com

  15. Nobody should have to withstand being bullied.  Unlike some people, I don't believe it is part of the school experience, nor do I believe that it "toughens you up" and prepares you for the real world.  I have not encountered bullies in my many years of work experience.

You do not need a license to homeschool, although the homeschooling laws vary from state to state.  The Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) is a great place to start by looking at the homeschooling laws for your state and their information on how to get started in homeschooling; the link is below:

    http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp

Although your mother is deaf, she can still homeschool you.  She may opt to use an online school for you; however, she may choose to homeschool you with a "school in a box" type of curriculum.  The method of homeschooling that would work best for you and your mom would depend a great deal, I believe, on your level of independence.  I'm sure that you already help your mom in a lot of ways due to her disability.  All she needs is a means to communicate with you, i.e., signing, writing you messages, typing you messages, etc.

Of course, your parents will be the ones to make the decision about homeschooling you.  Just calmly and intelligently present the information you find about homeschooling to them, i.e., the homeschooling laws, the different methods of homeschooling, etc.

    I hope this is helpful.

  16. 1) yes!

    2) no!

    3) yes!

    4) you dont need a license

    5) check with your area

here's a website with the basic laws for USA:

    http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp

    (or are u in UK?)

you need to check with your school district about their requirements.

    good luck!

  17. aww poor babyy.  i am sorry i do not know the answer to your question, but i really do hope you feel better and get your answer.

  18. maybe you should change schools rather than be home schooled, one of the most important things about school is that it helps develop the social skills that are needed in later life....

Most people are bullied at one point or another.. you will find that most of the people who got bullied ended up being the bosses 20 years later. Have you tried speaking to the tutor or counciler at school
