  1. Direct trains from Paris to Auxerre-St-Gervais leave from the Paris Bercy station. From Paris Nord, you can take the RER to Paris Bercy (take the direction Melun), There will be an RER train change required at Paris Lyon Banlieue to get to Bercy.

  2. Direct trains leave from Paris Bercy but there are also a lot of other trains leaving from Gare de Lyon. So it depends on which train you choose:

    - To Gare de Lyon: RER B (St-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse) to Châtelet-les-Halles (one stop) where you connect with RER A (Boissy St-Léger/Marne la Vallée) and Gare de Lyon will be the next stop.

    - To Bercy: same thing and you'll have to walk from Gare de Lyon to Bercy (too many metro connections otherwise)

Edit: Yahoo Answers won't let me post URL links today (that stupid 999 error code), maybe tomorrow I will be able to. Google SNCF for the trains and RATP for the subway. Oh and the spelling is Auxerre, without and S at the end, maybe that's why you couldn't find much info.

  3. When i typed it in it immediately found "Auxerre St. Gervais"

Is that the full name of Auxerres or is there definitely an Auxerres?

If it's Aux. St. Gervais, you need to take the metro from Paris Nord to Paris-Bercy station, then from there it's a 1 hr. 34 minutes direct train. Scheduled trains depart at: 7:04,

    8:36, 16:39, 18:37...

And there are other trains that you can take from Paris-Lyon station at 12:31, 13:38, 17:37, 19:04, and 20:25.... but you need to change trains at Laroche-Migennes.

To get from Paris Nord to Bercy, take Metro line 5 to Place d'Italie, change to line 6 (direction: Nation) and go 4 stops to Bercy.  For Gare de Lyon, take the RER train B to Chatelet, then change to RER A to Gare de Lyon.

The French rail website is very decorative, but hard to use.

You can use the Austrian one more easily for all of Europe:
