  1. you have walked away from your dream,...perhaps you should re-assess your choice & find a way to keep it alive. alot of working musicians have day jobs & play night gigs, others teach private lessons on top of playing. one of the finest jazz musicians i know is an insurance broker, the best studio bass trombonist in the los angeles area is a college professor, the list goes on,..........

personally-i feel you won' be right in your soul until you are follwing your calling whether it is rational or not!

    for a true musician MUSIC=LIFE!

  2. just take a break from it for a while. then just listen to your favorite music for fun, instead of always tying it to your career and work. that way you will enjoy it more

  3. Stay away from it for a little while and maybe you'll get that urge to try again.....right now your problem is frustration.....In my early years of playing I had this my self.....and it does go away, just don't don't give up on it !!!!!!!!! When you started in music did you have a teacher ? I find that most of my students who tried to teach themselves went thorough this same ordeal !!!!!!!! Why not try a teacher for a little while ????

  4. Start a new instrument maybe? I don't know what you did before, but say you did piano or something, start up violin, so you're doing something musical but it isn't connected with a career, and you can do it for fun.

And if you played rock music, go to a jazz concert, if you played classical, go to a grunge band gig :p Just start something completely new and you might not relate it to your job.

You can be a musician without having a job in it though :]
