I'm having trouble with my guinea pig!?!?!

I got a guinea pig a couple months ago, and she's been fine until now. She's starting to snap at me and bite me alot. How do i get her to stop and get her to trust me?

  1. Wow.  I have never know guinea pigs to snap and bite.  Mine have always been so friendly and they have never bitten me.  They will nibble on my fingers if they smell food so wash your hands before holding her.  Make sure that you are interacting with her daily.  You should try and hold her a lot.  Guinea pigs are skittish by nature so you have to spend a lot of time with her and earn her trust.


  2. Hi! Since it's a sudden new behavior, I would take a look at your guinea pig's skin and make sure there's not any sore spots that's she's worried about you touching.

    I have found with animals in general often something might be hurting them when their fearful to be to touched.

    It could be that your your Guinea Pig is trying to communicate something with this behavior. Here is a sight that gives some ideas:

  4. Guinea pigs don't usually do that unless someone has been hurting them. Have you been nice?

    When you take her out, distract her mouth with a carrot and wear long sleeves. It'll keep her teeth away from your skin.
