We've started to play volleyball in Physical Education, but I'm always having trouble with my serve. It actually getting very embarassing... My team regards me as the worst player and that doesn't help. How should I position the ball and my hands... How can I perform a really good underhand serve so I can shoot it over the net?

Thank you!

  1. ur a guy rite... so that means u have more power than the girls.. but then that power have to controlled... but yea anyways... do a bow and arrow position....like the ball is the target.. like if ur rite handed.. put the ball in ur left hand and hit the ball really hard by ur rite hand use that power!

  2. hit that ball on more of a slant than directly underneath.

  3. curl your hand into a fist

    thumb on the outside

position the ball with the nozzle on the bottom

    bend you knees

bend at the waist a well

    towards the ball

make sure the ball does not move

before your hand makes contact with it

    pull your arm back

hit the back of the ball with you fist

make sure not to bend too much

you will serve into the net

    GOOD LUCK!

  4. If you ask me, do a over hand, they are more consistent.

  5. all i can say is practice when nobody is around, and ignore the people that make fun of you. they are just jealous of something you have that they don't.

  6. you should hold the ball in your non-domenit hand just enough so your holdig it lightly. Then, with your dominant hand put it in a fist straight out and serve it. Make sure your hand and arm is straight. Also, hit it hard enough to go over the net

  7. what i did was I throw the ball up and hit with palm it is kind of not that accurate but it packs force and goes far  that works for me, but you can hold the ball and hit by the wrist. and one more thing with the underhand hold until the last second and no pressure calm down that is actually the first step.

  8. for me... i usually bounce the ball a few times before i set it on my hand... i make a fist (not too tight) and take 2 steps foreward... on the second step, i swing my hand back... and on the third step, i hit the ball with my fist (hit it hard... and aim for which-ever player u want)... it works for me, hope it works for u!... have fun!

  9. Step by Step:

Your Stance:  position yourself so that your shoulders are "square" with the court...in other words, you are facing the net.  Sounds silly - but very important, if you want the ball to go straight and not off to the side.

If you're right-handed, than, hold the ball in your left hand, with your arm slightly bent....so that when you practise to hit the ball with your right arm...the ball is in a comfortable spot/length away from your body - and you won't miss it.

Next - before you actually hit the ball....take your right arm and practise to make sure you can  hit it.  If I'm serving underhand, I use my wrist and base of my hand to hit the ball....not my hand per say.  You're going to use the bottom open palm of your hand.  Hope that makes sense.  You're going to lean forward a bit - as you swing with your right arm...your right foot should follow through - as you make contact with the base of your palm / wrist (you can keep your hand open or make a fist...I just leave mine open).

And you don;t have to throw the ball up as you hit it....you can just hit it right from your left hand, that is holding the ball.  When you are comfortable enough - you can try throw it up a bit, but not necessary.

Best of luck....volleyball is a fun game!
