I'm the "family planner" and she's getting married in February, 2009. (She's a single Mom and doesn't have a lot of time, and I love to do this stuff.) Her heart is set on Mexico...and she was looking at Ixtapa/Zihua (we went last year), but airfare is outrageous to there right now. She is totally open to anywhere in Mexico and I would like to get opinions. We've also been to Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, and she's been to Cozumel. We've found airfare actually cheaper to the Cancun area, and are REALLY interested in Playa del Carmen. Any other suggestions?

  1. There's this really quiet and nice beach at a little town called Barra de Navidad. I've been there and also to some of the other main beaches in Mexico and belive me this one is really pretty. You get the best of Mexican culture along with a beautiful beach.

  2. Try this site it may help you

  3. I've heard that a lot of tourists like going to Playa de Carmen because it's quieter and less Americanized than Cancun. My sister lives there as a matter of fact.

Since you've been to beaches, why not consider going to a different part of Mexico instead? The monarch butterflies will still be in Michoacán at that time of year which could be very romantic. There's great hotels in the towns where the butterflies emigrate that are cheap, the towns are very sleepy and quiet and since it isn't a beach resort filled with tourists, you'd be paying pennies for a great time.

I'd suggest inward Oaxaca as another possible option just because the state is so awesome, but unless you'd plan on staying in Oaxaca city, backpack riding buses on dirtroads to visit the whole state might not be the best idea for a honeymoon.

If not, Playa del Carmen would still be a good choice.

  4. In Rocky Point Mexico there are condos to rent the Resort is called Las Palomas.

Nice place, right on the beach. Great food. Beautiful beach!!!

    Moon Palace in Cancun

  5. I love Ixtapa. Probably so high b/c its tourist season

  6. Cancun, Holbox, Playa del Carmen, Isla Mujeres...  she needs to go,,,the South of Mexico is amazing!!  I live at two hours of there and my bf is from singapore and when he came to visit CANCUN, he said is so nice,,,.. good luck and i hope she could find a nice place

  7. You might get a better price if you look into vacation packages that include both the air & hotel.

If you love to do this stuff you could be a travel agent and get a commission, a travel agent discount or both (lol!)

Take a look at a few of the vacation packages and member trips available at: http://www.vickigreentravel.com

You'll notice in the member trips that there was a great hotel package offered at Playa del Carmen earlier this - it might be offered again next year.
