  1. This is very ironic because I'm trying to get out of public school and start home schooling and you're home schooling trying to get into a public school. All I have to say is is, if you have a ride to and from and you have have talked to your parents about it, go for it.

  2. Check out neighboring school districts.  The type of information you want to seek is their API score (you are in California, I presume), how many Honors and AP classes are offered, what type of support programs are offered (free tutoring, etc.)  AN IMPORTANT FACTOR TO CONSIDER IS WHY YOU THINK YOUR SCHOOL DISTRICT "SUCKS".  Make a list of the things you don't like or need improvement, and make sure the new school you investigate does not have the same problems. Find a school that is a fit for you, and for which you are also a fit.  In other words, what can you bring to the school?

Once you find a school you would like to attend, call and ask about doing an "inter-district transfer."  That means you belong to another district in another city, but would like to attend this other school.  It is a special "permission" to attend the school you want.

  3. I highly recommend the combination of homeschool first, and then public school through high scghool- even for just one year. You could probably go to public school in another city if you have your own car and drive yourself to school (or one of your parents does). I know my cousin was able to do that, anyway.

  4. Yes - At least in California you can apply for an "inter-district" transfer.  You have to go to your home district and put in an application to attend school in another district.  They have to "release" you as a student and the other district has to approve the transfer.  Neither district is required to allow the transfer, but most will.  The receiving district may turn it down if you say have a poor attendance history or grades, but that shouldn't matter since you've been home schooled.

  5. I had the same problem you have. Do You have any Coop's in your area? Thats what I did. I took a few classes and loved it. Check out Local grooups for info. I hope this helps!

  6. Why would you want to fix something that isn't broken? Sounds like you love homeschooling so why not continue on. You will finish quicker than others.
