  1. I would not take the advice of those suggesting you zone out with video games and such...I'm pretty sure they tend to exacerbate ADD and other attention problems.  Frequent breaks is a good idea.  I heard once that people learn best in 20 minute increments, so maybe you could do a subject for 20 min, take a 5-15 minute break, then switch subjects, and continue the rotation until you have finished.  Also, you need to learn about yourself.  I really think if you explore your own interests for a while you will soon learn there is not enough time in the day to get everything done!  Oh, and one more thing.  Your mom/dad should find a homeschool support group they are comfortable with, and chances are you will then have the opportunity to meet some new people you can relate to.

  2. Just do the work and realize you're friends don't care about you, and in a few years you wouldn't talk to them anyway....

Play video games, or for me I read all fricken day....

I can tell you clubs, and things like that, but (To me) it's stupid boring, don't get anything (Friends, or learning) out of them....

But maybe you're different, try them it's different from city to city, my city sucks though, all the clubs are either old people, or geeks who have nothing better to do with their time, haha sounds more and more like me everyday! lol....

It just depends on where you live....

  3. I suppose hanging out with others depends on where you live.  If you can get out and about, there are plenty of clubs and volunteer opportunities.  Seems like you would have an adult who is interested helping you get out in the world.

There are so many things you can do from your own home, but just think about hobbies you think might be interesting.  Try anything that you can, that is financially reasonable.

Art projects can be made out of anything, so you could always try to create something.

I have ADD and I consider it part of my charm :D

  4. Hello!

I think you can try learning esperanto on

    edukado.net for exemple

I'm french and i can write or invite people who are living all over the world.

I don't speak english, the prononciation is too difficult, but in a few months you can speak esperanto, it's a phonetic language.

Some people are thinking it's not "in"?!

go on google and write Zhou Mack! He speaks fluently esperanto and I like his musik.

    I like african musiks.

    Esperanto:

16 grammatical rules without exceptions, phonetic language, and so easy

    for exemple

sana means healthy, malsana, ill, malsanulo, the man who's ill, malsanulino, the woman who's ill, malsanulejo hospital and so on...

Some autistic person, he was  in the newspaper, has learned esperanto in a few weeks.

Just try, please! You'll enjoy it!

Jules Verne, Albert Einstein, Umberto Eco are among the "VIP"s who are for esperanto as international language , the only one easy enough for everybody, the poor people who don't go to school for long years, the people like me who can't chat in english because of the prononciation....

    Best wishes!

And if one of your friends is learning too, you can decided to communicate only in esperanto, you'll learn very quickly.

    Spaceman!

Keep cool!  You're not such a bad fellow!

  5. Hey! We all have ADD here. My suggestion is frequent scheduled breaks, lots of fun physical activity, plenty of audio visual information with some repetition and when you read, do so balanced on a yoga ball. It sounds funny, but the controlled distraction seems to allow for sharper focus. Also, try to have as many hands on projects as you can. I even dictate my notes and listen to them at the gym or as I walk my dogs. The more senses that are involved, the greater chance you have of paying attention. I also recommend that you try community chorus or theater. ADD kids are often told to sit down, calm down and be quiet. It is such a relief to be somewhere where everyone is told to stand up, speak up and emote. Art classes and music are places people with ADD often excel, because we seem to be naturally right brained people.

I hope that helps. Good luck!

  6. I'd start by researching ADD and find out ways to help combat it. Taking fish oil supplements can help. I recommend "New Vital Oils" by Liz Earle for more info.

After that, you have the entire history of the world to explore. If you can't find something to excite you in millions of years worth of history (or 6,000 years if you're a creationist) then you need a clip around the ear ;) In my spare time I do SCA stuff. At the moment I'm researching Polish heraldry so I can get my banner right. My partner is really into the Romans and is going to make our daughter some new Roman garb for her birthday (she'll be one next week!) I had a new embroidery project planned out, but my partner doesn't know if he wants it after all, so I haven't started. I have found out the next step for the cotehardie I'm making. There's something, go find out what a cotehardie is ;)

Learn some new crafts and start making Christmas presents for your family. I'm making Waldorf style dolls for the kids this year. Something new for me. There's so many things to do, I just wish I had the energy to do them all! Energy is in short supply with a baby in the house :)

  7. Same here but I go a public school.

Try meeted up people at different places.

  8. ipod, psp

  9. well if your moms friends have children than try and make friends with them thats what i do hope that helps : )

  10. same position as me lol. its been 2 years since i got kicked out of school. then i took the option last year to be home schooling and it going to finish in a few months. my best advice would be to stick with your best mates. spend time with them the most, and when they go out you will get invited too. ive missed out on alot on socialising, and it has sucked. but to be honest, most of the social life is waste, most people are stuck on f**s, alcole and look aged lol. i was fat and i keept busy by going to the gym and lost 20kg. now when i go to college in september im going to enjoy it more then i did back in highschool. if your going to be paying for gym you know you will be more urged to go. i know you can work out at home, but home schooling doenst exactly help burn calories lol, i'd say gym, go for it!!!

  11. Let me level with you, I am the same. What I do to use time to my advantage is learn, learn new skills. Why would I do this? So that I can use them one day, and since my time is being crapped away homeschooling anyways, I don't see a problem.

I don't know you, but you must be into learning new things. When I say learn new skills, I mean learn la skill you personally are excited about, not what you might think you will need. I have a bit of ADD as well, not to a high degree, thank God. However I find it difficult at times to concentrate when I need to most.

I suggest when you get to your wits end with being alone, you sign up for an outside sport. It helps you get your emotions burned out, and possibly meet new people. I believe if you are a new homeschooler, you should probably learn a little on your own for a while, it really is beneficial in the long run.

  12. Rather than meet new people, i would concentrate on the use of the english language and spelling!!

  13. internet games like runescape for example

  14. DANCE! SING! DO SPORTS! BE ACTIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. You should really just do your best to focus and do your homework. But I can understand if you need a break, you can always listen to music, learn an instrument or a new sport. Those are all healthy and engaging ways to keep you occupied.

  16. ugh... lol That is a great question!

All of my 10th grade year I would sleep in till about 2 and then do a bit of work.. talk online and eat and watch tv! Soo lazy!

So, I realized getting up early and eating breakfast, working out at the gym before school gave me energy to do the whole day of school and get work done. When Im done with school, I hang out with my friends who always introduce me to new people not to mention all the new people you can meet at the gym or book store!

Also...wouldyouhitthis saved me from depression, Its a retarded site.. but I've made a bunch of friends online

Or, you could try a homeschooling messageboard for teens!

  17. Wow, I'm homeschooled too, and during the day I can't find ENOUGH time to get all my schoolwork done. I have alot to do, so its not often I find free time.  I have the same problem about making friends. Sometimes I feel really lonely because I have hardly any friends because I don't make friends easily even with the people I'm around with other times. So, read alot when you have free time. thats what I'd do if I'd have more free time. :)

  18. (This answer is from my sister who's 12)

I'm kind of worried about this too. I planning to be home schooled next year. My mom really wants me to get an excellent curriculum that fits me. I'm higher in English, and well, lets say, not the best in math. *wink wink* But my mom found a group of home schoolers. My friend Jean, is in it and he's in this group too. They meet up once a week so that they don't get too bored, and they have field trips once a month because they get bored being at home ALL day! So, they don't get bored. Maybe you should find a group like that. And maybe you could study at your friends' house once in a while.
