I'm not sure what makes a speaker better then another but I have 2 large speakers that I took from a previous stereo system that are 6 OHMS and 2 small speakers that are 8OHMS. Which speakers would give me the best overall sound for a home theater system??!

  1. Generally the bigger speaker would give you a more "fuller sound".  I'd hook up the small ones and then the big ones and compare with several types of music.  Your ears will be the best judge on which pair is better.

  2. Yeah I agree try them both spend a few hours listening to both.

Is this a 2 channel set up?

Home theater suggests a 5 channel system if your after surround sound you may be able to use both sets of speakers and add a center speaker.

my advice would be to get a set of dedicated surround sound speakers and use you existing speakers for stereo music playback.

  3. Depends of the quality of the speakers and how many Watts they can handle, sometimes bigger are better but not always.

And you need to see the specification of your receiver if he can handle 6 and 8 OHMS.
