How meny people will be attending, got know this first. I do tons of catering will be happy to help..I am in San Antonio.

take 500. and divide it w/ the # of people.. This will give you your guide line and foods you can afford..get back w/ me on the ## attending..

Depending on the occation, really and how many people ... is it a big formal, fancy thing, or just a nice get-together of family and friends?

If it's the latter for about 20 - 50 people, you could make a buffet:

- 3 types of meat: f.ex. roast beef, roasted turkeybreast(s) and danish meatballs (pan fried, not boiled - want recipe?)

- 4 salads: a basic cold potato-salad; a bulgur (or quinoa)-salad (maybe with sprouts and shredded beets - or arugula and toasted pinenuts plus a balsamic vinaigrette); a basic green salad (lettuce, cucumber, corn, shredded carrot, diced bell peppers etc.); a warm salad (diced squash and egg-plant, strips of bell pepper and onion, sauteed in onion).

- bread

- at least 3 types of cakes

Horray, april 26! Thats my birthday, lol. well to do a dinner party under $500, you can't have so many guests, the more guests the more money needed. Make shure all items bought dont cost that much, not so cheap or so pricy. If you can cook it's better for you to cook  and not buy food. Make chicken, rice, or fried chicken.

Dickey's has quantity food you can buy for large crowds (BBQ meats & sides) ....  Then you can get veggie & fruit platters from Kroger
