I purchased a Genuine Microsoft Professional Office 2003 disc on e-bay & when i went to download it & entered the Product key it said it was not recognised. I 'phoned Microsoft helpline & the guy said the number was for Windows XP & left me to sort it out.I was going to send the disc to Microsoft to get the correct key but then realised that the guy who sold it probably has the computer with the same Product Key number so all software which was issued with his computer will be for that machine, what do others think & should I take a chance on sending the disc to Microsoft to get the correct key for Office 2003.Thanks for your help!!.

  1. You could also report the seller to ebay and see if you can get any redress that way.

  2. Report the seller.

    Try OpenOffice.org in the meantime.

  3. unless MS has told you send the disc to them (which I doubt they ever would), do not send it.

chances are you either bought a pirated copy (even though it says "genuine" on it.  Or like you suggest, the guy has already installed it and registered it.

the only way to find out is to call the MS helpline and have them tell you if your product key is valid or not.  Explain to them you bought it on ebay and you're having problems installing it.

  4. One cd one pc , thats the rule , you got stung , your only chance is getting back to the guy who sold you the software

  5. Hi aries
