  1. The SATs aren't that hard, some things on the Reasoning Test are tricky but without studying I got a 1760 so it's not too bad.

If you're an outgoing senior then you're WAY behind schedule. If you're a junior then you should take it at least in October (they don't offer any SAT testing over the summer) and then again in either November and the month after that (either December or January there's no tests but I forget which one). Colleges typically want your SAT scores by February 15th at the latest if you're a Senior that year but they typically want them by November 15th if you're applying either as an Early Action or an Early Decision applicant. You can have your SAt scores sent directly to colleges but it might take them a while to receive your scores and in most cases if your scores aren't in by the required date there's no way you're getting in.

As for practice tests and things like that you can go on to College Board's website and on there they have the Official SAT Question of the Day and I believe that if you make an account on there or already have one that you can get that emailed to your inbox daily (that's what I do). As for other tests online they have examples of the essay on their site as well and essays that received scores from 1 to 6. I've never seen other practice tests online before but I'm sure that they're out there. You can also use CDs with SAT prep courses or there's typically SAT prep courses in high school that you can take (but you won't get any credits for that).

  2. its a long test. thats what makes it hard.

  3. Take the SAT in the 11th grade, and then again in the 12th. The SAT is nothing to be afraid of... Collegeboard.com offers daily tips and questions... I bought a SAT study program, for like 10 bucks from wal-mart.. I think it really helped me. The important thing is to take it at least twice. Dont forget to start looking early at scholarships. I started too late. On both the SAT and the scholarship stuff. Good luck and remember not to stress about it, it's not that difficult.:)

  4. The SAT is designed so that there will be a bunch of easy questions, a bunch a of medium questions, and a bunch aof hard questions.  This way, one can look at the grades and get a general idea of the range of the studenty's academic performance.

You can take the test on variety of dates.  Here's a list of upcoming testing dates: http://www.collegeboard.com/student/test...

Most take it in the middle of Junior year and then possibly a second time at the end of the school year.

collegeboard.com has lots of info and has a practice question of the day every day.

You should take plenty of practice tests to prepeare.  After you do that you can see how you do.  (You may want to check for factors like your ability to finish all the questions before running out of time.)

For the essay section of the exam, the idea is to write quickly.  You'lll be given a quote that you can use in the essay, but the quote is almost always worthless.  Remember, the essays are general, so there's a good chance that a practice essay will be very similar to what you write on the real SAT.

Math is mostly 10th grade level material.

The critical reading section is not something that one can exactly prepare for.

  5. deffinatley take it in 11th + 12th grade. thats what im doing. I'm sure books will help, as everyone has them and gets them. Also if your school offers a SAT prep class then I would take it.

I took the PSAT this year and I'm taking it again next year, and it wasn't incredibly hard. You just need to prepare yourself.
