Princess Ruto is looking for a ring or necklace.  It was so long ago that I played it I can't quite remember.  You can only get this after defeating the dungeon boss.  For further info and a complete walk-through you need to go to www.gamefaqs.com and look up legend of zelda ocarina of time.  You really should make sure your question is moved to video games instead of royalty.

Yup it was something like the water stone. Go find the room with  floors that let you slip into random rooms. You had to get past one of them I forget which.
