  1. You can get your damaged passport from Mumbai itself. Approach the passport office nearest to your residence and ask for the relevant form for replacement.  You have to give special affidavit indicating how you got it damaged and if it is due to your gross negligence you will be charged some fine by Passport Office. For replacement of damaged passport the normal fees is Rs.2500/-. If the reason for damage is not due to your fault, then passport officer can reduce and completely waive the fine also.

The Mumbai passport office will send out an enquiry to the Indore passport office to verify whether they had issued the damaged passport to you and it is not a nakhli passport and you are trying to make ti 'asli'. You have to attach various documents with the passport application too and the police verification may also be done in your Mumbai residence before they will issue a replacement passport.

Better you apply for a new passport surrendering the present damaged one through Mumbai passport office in which case you have to furnish all necessary documents as if you are applying for a new passport.

Hope this answers your question thoroughly well.

  2. If you want to apply from Bombay atleast 1 year stay is required.  You have to apply from Indore only.

  3. the easiest way is to get it renewed from the place of issue.
