I'm in my friend's wedding, can my boyfriend match the wedding party colors via tie or is that a no no?

I'm not sure how the rules work when it comes to dates matching the bridesmaid or not matching.

I dont think that would be an issue, it would like nice for him to match you. Although there may be some confusion if he looks alot like the groomsmen (ie. same suit & shirt also).

Dates can wear whatever they want, as long as it is in line with the formality. I wouldn't expect them to match the wedding colors.

It doesn't really matter - however, I think it'll be a nice personal touch if his tie DOES match the colors. :D I think it's a great idea!

I think that is okay for a tie.  I wouldn't buy a shirt or dress if I was girl in the same color.  That would be a big no.

Its nice not to clash completely.  My sisters wedding photos there is this girl who wore a dress with big bright flowers on it.....arrrrgghhhh.....its always about the first thing you notice when you look at the reception photos.  YUCK

I dont think that is a big deal. As long as he is dressed nice that is all that matters.

It is typically customary for the wedding party to match. It is rarely expected of guests to do the same, but I highly doubt anyone would be offended if your boyfriend wore a matching tie.

You might ask the bride to see if she would mind.

yes, I was in two weddings this summer and my boyfriend matched his tie with my dress. It looks great in our pictures that we took!
