alright, so i started the job in early july full-time and i'm a nanny for kids 6 and 9.. i've made a few boo boo's in the job so far and this is the last straw for me basically if i dont do better tomorrow. I feel so stressed out, i have to clean, cook 3 meals a day and the kids are rediculously picky. The kids are rediculously bratty, fight and argue all the time... i have to find time between 7 am and 6 pm to clean, cook and keep the kids entertained.. they can't watch much tv and i have to be outside alot.. any ideas on how to help me?

  1. All you are missing is a husband! I hope it pays well.

  2. I've found it helps a lot to make sure kids know when you say something, you mean it. DON'T BARGAIN! but don't give comands all the time. only tell them what to do when you need to.

As to entertaining without TV, there are a lot of things to find online. www.Crayola.com has coloring pages. the younger child would probably like that. The library also has a ton of resources that can be used. Parents and Parenting Magazines will have articles and ideas. The crafts section of the library (700's) and the games books (790's) will have a treasure of ideas. "Backyard ballistics : build potato cannons, paper match rockets, Cincinnati fire kites, tennis ball mortars, and more dynamite devices by Gurstelle, William." is a great book for to intrigue boys.

I discovered showing children rewards gets a lot done too. tell them they will get a specific reward for a specific task, such as cleaning the room.

outdoor activities are good. above all show them love. without knowing you care, they will not listen or care about you in return.

  3. When i was little i used to have nanny's and u pretty much descibed my sister and i heres some advise:

Keep the kids busy: most of the nannys i had came from the philippines and my nannys used to teach my sister and i how to speak the language there... so if u come from another country or speak another language that might be fun and intersting.

Cleaning: Try and teach the kids how to clean up after themselves (the parents will thank u in the future)

Cooking: Get the kids to help you cook that way it will be fun for them and easier for you. Also the day before talk to them about what they like to eat, if they pick something unhealthy try and add it in for desert.

Fighting: When they fight do not just punish them both i used to hate when my sister started it and i got punished so please try and listen to what they have to say and deal with it in the proper manner.

    Hope this helps!
