I really need a few buddy passes, I hope someone out there can get me some because I'm in a real situation here. I live on Long Island NY and my youngest sister lives in Sumter SC. She is in the Air Force and is leaving for Iraq on July 10, 2008. My uncle who is retired from the military is giving her a going away party. I have myself and 5 children to pay for and cannot afford airfare and cannot drive there with these gas prices, also I would have to pay for a hotel. I'm looking for a way to cut the costs. Airfare is major thing for me. I just cannot afford it. So if someone can get me some buddy passes you just don't know how that will help. I would really love to see my youngest sister off.

Please help if you can

Thanks for reading

Bye

  1. Sorry, I cannot help in this situation, but I can empathize (which, I know, doesn't help you at all).

If it becomes impossible for you to see her off personally, perhaps you can make a video or DVD to have someone show her on the computer before she deploys? Most of the time she would be able to take something like that with her, in which case she could watch it repeatedly for sentimental purposes, and keep you and your children close to her heart while she is gone.

My son is also in the Air Force, and so if nothing else, I'd like to extend a huge THANK YOU to your sister and all those that serve in our armed forces.

I received a lovely little video link from a friend this morning that I'd like to share with the world about showing gratitude. See link below.

  2. I'm truly sorry that I can't help you out. Is there any possible way you could find a friend or a relative to watch your children for a couple of days while you fly to South Carolina?

I agree with the DVD suggestion if it turns out that there's absolutely no way to get to SC. Maybe you could even get a webcam and have someone set one up at the party and have one on your end so you could see her and wish her off on live feed.

    Just remember - where there's a will, there's a way.

    Best of luck,

    M&MM

  3. Can you leave your kids with a friend or their dad and fly there by yourself?

I'm sure with 5 kids you are used to not being able to do what you want.  Holy moly, I don't know how you do it.
