I'm in the US. Now I have a bunch of British Postal Orders I got when selling some things by eBay. ButI don't know what to do with them (should have used PayPal or thought ahead!) How can I change these into cold hard cash??

  1. You poor thing. Lol. Well Post Office say PO's can be cashed in 47 countries worldwide, but I don't see the US listed there... I think you should send the PO's back to the buyer and tell them to pay you via PayPal instead!

    EDIT

You mean you already sent the items to the buyers without waiting for the money to clear first???

  2. Whenever selling anything overseas ask for cash (most countries have US Dollars, Paypal or International Money Order in USD.

Bring them to the bank and see what they say. You may be hit with some fees, but go ask.

I wouldn't recommend that you send them back to the purchaser. They will have their item and their money back.

  3. The only way that I can think of, is by depositing them in your bank account (takes longer to clear since it's a non U.S. instrument).  I've never heard of the US Postal Service cashing British money orders.

A check cashing place that you may do business with may trust you enough to cash them for you, but then again since the money orders are not from the U.S., they are under no obligation to do so.
