I really need new irons. I've been told that I should get game improvement irons, steel shafts? Any reccomendations? I'm willing to spend up to $600 or so. Any tips, etc. on what to get and how to pick the right clubs for me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  1. TaylorMade r7 Draw, Cleveland cg Gold, or Tour Edge Exotics EX-3(they may be above your price range).  Others would be the Cobra S9 and the Nike Ignite.

  2. Most driving ranges have demo days where you can hit irons to your hearts content.  Find out which you hit best, then go shopping.

  3. Like you I was in the high 90s-low 100s. Bought a set of Adams A3 Ideas and dropped my game immediately into the mid 90s. I had also picked up a TM R7 Draw and that seemed to help my tee shots - I'm a lefty so had a right to left slice as well. The driver and changing my stance + the grip made a HUGE difference. The ADAMS are a great set for now - I love the hybrids very much - good distance and pretty straight. The irons feel pretty solid and made my game consistent - well for the most part!!

good luck. Golf Galaxy has them on sale usually.

  4. Callaway Fusions, go on eBay and you can probably find a set around $400.  Easy to hit, very forgiving and nice to look at.  Great distance on these irons, big time confidence booster, and even on mishits the ball goes.  Head to your local golf shot and give a try!

  5. I bought the 07 King Cobra FP's on ebay last year for $400, Dicks had them at $500, i'm sure you coudl get them now for around $2-300.  Look on ebay, it's the way to go when buying new clubs.

  6. i am alot like you, shoot high 90s, i needed a new set and found Lind golf on google. These guys sort of copy major brands. So the clubs are great and cheep. The sniper irons are supposed to be the best ones to help improve your game

  7. Probably the best game improving clubs come from Adams and Tour Edge. Take a look at their selections to see what best fits your game.

  8. Well i would buy the Adams Idea's they are a great club and a great price and are excellent game improvement clubs that have 3 and 4 hybrids standard in the set If you need an over length set or any adjustments to the lie have a fitting and order them that way because cast clubs can break if you try to bend them say 2 degree's up right I would say you get the best bang for the buck with Adams clubs

  9. Whichever brand you decide on....I think you should be sure they are cavity-backs.

  10. See your club pro for a fitting.   There are too many variables in selecting the right clubs for you to get an accurate answer here.  Taylormade and Ping (and probably other manufacturers) have custom fitting packages that your club pro can use to set you up with the best clubs for your game.
