Basically when you sign a contract your committed and that is fine with me. However, I have put in for a transfer with constant declines from my commander because they dont want to lose bodies. I do not have a problem with that but the unit i am in is terrible and i am an electrician and havent touched a hammer in a year. We go to war in june 2009 but i do not want to go to war with these guys. Is there any ideas from anyone on what i can do or what route i can take??? They really have me not liking the national guard right now and i am almost at the point of no return.

  1. If you're looking to transfer but still be in the national guard then the other's answers are more helpful, but if you're looking to get OUT then an option you have is filing a conscientious objective.

    Conscientious Objective

Follow this link, it helps explain it: http://www.militaryescape.com/

    Research your options further

Another link to go to is: http://www.objector.org/index.html

If you look under take action: GI Rights, you can call a representative who you could explain your situation to who may ask you a few questions, research, and tell you the options you have.

Hope you get worked out what you want.

  2. The reason why they won't release you is because of the pending deployment.

The biggest difference between NG and Reserves is that in the NG, you belong to the State...Reserves, you belong to the federal government.

A NCO in my Battalion is moving to Ft Leonard Wood, MO.  His wife is in the TXNG.  Her unit won't release her to MO with her husband because her unit is pending deployment.  She's been trying to get a letter of release so she can become Active Duty again to solve this problem, but TXNG still won't release her.  She's in the process of talking with the local Congressman because she wants to go back to Active status.  She, too, has not done her MOS in over a year.

Maybe that's what you need to do yourself.  It's worth it if you're trying to go Active.  At least then, you'll do your job on a daily basis with full benefits involved.  Talk with an Army recruiter and see what they can do for you...

  3. Go active duty, then put in for overseas long extended.  You'll get out of your unit.  You should know that the needs of the military come first, last and always.

  4. The good news is that we'll have a different President in January 2009, and the troops will then start coming home. You probably won't even be deployed to Iraq.

  5. should have thought about it way before now, your stuck with what you got unfortunately

  6. electricians use hammers?!

stop whining and do your duty!

otherwise, just walk away,go AWOL, after 30 days you will be a deserter and DFR!

however, if you get caught, face severe consequences!

  7. Get a transfer to Army reserves, or any other reserves, change your MOS, I changed my MOS four times in my six years as a reservist. Basically when you go active duty (I had reservist in my unit) you may be seperated and put in different PLT's in the unit you are activated to serve, so its not so bad, hoepfully you won;t get my 1SGT, all the reservist who served underneath my 1SGT were ready to get lost once they got back to their civilian life, my 1SGT liked ot work troops late hours and work troops on the weekends if they did something wrong. He was a maniac and a control freak. You think playing soldier is bad!!!

This dude would make you wish you were back at your National Guard unit. Besides when you are actiated you get a two week leave to go back home. You also get active duty pay, unless your civilian pay is more thne active duty pay. You get free medical to. while on active duty and hopefully you can see Iraq or Afghanistan, my husband brought back some of that purple rock from afghanistan and a fur coat, I went to kuwait when I was active during Enduring Freedom and enjoyed my time in Kuwait city.

  8. smoke dope, get a boyfriend and be open about it. you'll be out in no time
