Question:

I'm in the process of upgrading from 80 gallon to 150 gallon tank..should I consider a Sump Tank ?

Currently have the following;

(1) Albino Tiger Oscar 9 inches

(1) Red Oscar 4 inches

(1) Jack Dempsy 8 inches

(1) Featherfin Squeaker Catfish 8 inches

(1) Common Pleco 9 inches

  2. I agree with liz here.  This is something you have to decide.  It is up to you the amount of money you want to spend and the room you have.

  3. My personal opinion is that freshwater tanks don't really require that kind off filtration. Also, unless setup correctly, sumps can be a real pain in the butt. Try a good canister filter like the Rena XP3 or XP4. I think these would save you alot of headache.

  4. I'm pretty sure those fish would certainly appreciate the new roomier tank. I myself have a 150 as well as a sump. It's been running for 3 months now with no problems. I put the heater and the water pump in there. The filter pad does get dirty quick so expect changing it at least once a week. I bought my sump premade and it's expensive (over 300 USD). If you're good at handy work,  I've read some people build their own.  Well good luck on your new tank!
