  1. From what I learned and experience, take classes now in Journalism and apparel design and merchandising. If you are at a community college, even better!

Research research research!!! Find out what it is you really want to do in that area. Do you want to work behind the scenes or actually write about fashion?

Start a blog, get it out there.

After taking classes, talk to your teachers and ask them what it takes to get where you want in the business.

As for internships go, you have to take a few courses. You won't start out at Teen Vogue, something more rural and probably small. You will need a Journ 101 course (intro to reporting and newswriting).

    Hope that helps!

You can also look around at your favorite magazines and even the entertainment sections of newspapers-try New York Magazine, and email a few of the writers asking them questions-tell them you are a student.

Some won't respond, but some do...some are more than happy while some may shut you down-don't take it personally.

Better yet-try for your local newspaper or magazine. If you are in the LA area, try the OC Register style section or Los Angeles magazine or Orange Coast.

    hope that helps!
