I'm interested in adopting a baby but don't know where to even start in pursuing this?

Can people who have looked into this before give me some direction, as well as the names of some different agencies, when to start (meaning, if I have a baby and we will not be ready for another 2 yrs, when do we begin, b/c I know it can be a long process), and anything else you can share? I'd really appreciate it! I live in the Philadelphia area.

  1. call your regional child services agency and ask them for advice.

  2. Do as much research as you can regarding the different types of adoptions and agencies out there.  Once you are ready, I would suggest contacting a local adoption agency to discuss the requirements of their agency as well as the state.  You may want to contact "Adoptions From the Heart" agency.  I live outside of Phila, and this is the agency that we used.  When we first met with them, they explained all of the different types of adoptions available and what is required for each one, including finances and time frames.

You can read more about them at www.adoptionsfromtheheart.org.

    Good luck.
