What kinds of things should I ask? I have chronic UTI and hubby has really bad allergies, so I'm going to bring all of that up, but what are some good, general questions to ask?

  1. I go off word of mouth.  Any physician can attend a prestigious school or graduate at the top of the class but to me bed side manner is key.  I want a physician who listens and reacts appropriately.  Things to consider are: insurance- do they accept yours?  Hours- are they only open 830-430 and you work 9-5?  Coverage- who covers them if they are away?  What hospital are they affiliated with?  Do they have partners that you will be bounced between?  AND THEN- do you like them?  Do they listen?  Does he answer your questions in laymen terms or medical jargon?  Did he give you adequate time?  This is a very personal decision.....

    4. Cholesterol status.

    5. Complete hemogram should be done.

  3. Ask him how long he has been practicing, where he got his education medical school), where he did his residency?  is he board certified, or board certified elgible? What is philosphy on prescribing medications for UTI's and allergies?
