What can I do to catch up with the rest of the team? I was going to run cross country again, but most of my friends play volleyball. I want to be good. Any ideas?

  1. I am also going to be joining a volleyball team and one thing I am doing is working out every night to be in shape because it can be a very tough game. also see if you can find someone who is experienced with the game to practice with you. learn the basics so you will be prepared for tryouts, and a thing that might help is to watch volleyball games on TV or youtube. it helps to watch how the game its played. practice with someone as much as you can so you have no fear of the ball, which is something i had to do. Be sure to get knee-pads!

  2. You could try private lessons with a coach or if you have club teams in your area, you ask for private lessons to help you get you ready. They might be a little pricey but they can make a world of difference.

You could also ask the girls on the team to play at an open gym or something. Just something to let you get to know the girls while getting pointers/working on your skills at the same time.

    Good luck!

  3. I know exactly what you mean! My freshman year i decided not to play and come my sophomore year i wanted to play. So i went in all nervous becasue everyone else had a year! All you can do i try your hardest. Just hang out with the top dogs. Theycan teach you lots of things! Don't be shy or you will get out shined.

    Godd luck

    I hope my advice works

  4. I think that you should just get used to playing so i would go outside and just bump the ball to yourself then set it to yourself then you can use the garage or the side of the house you can practice hitting and serving that should help you get better

  5. You and your friends should get together and have them teach you some stuff...I did that to my friend cause she did the same thing as you it helped her a lot she was still behind but not as far as another girl who joined a year later to...plus the coaches should help you to and not get mad at you...
