  1. haha lol dude you  should take some lessons

  2. I'd recommend avoiding Burton, &sticking to Rome, Ride or K2. Goggles, I actually think it looks stupid when people wear sunglasses while snowboarding. Either get a lesson or if you have a friend who can snowboard, ask them if they can teach you. It'll save money &if your friend knows what they're doing I think they'll be able to help almost as good as an instructer. Try to buy your gear around this time because there are a lot of great sales, check out dogfunk.com, sierrasnowboard.com, or the-house.com. However there are a lot of other sites that are having sales , those are just the ones I know best. Try to not go for the cheapest thing unless this is something you don't plan on sticking to because it'll be worth it in the end.

    Hope this helps;]

  3. I was in the same boat once and I think the best thing to do is to rent a board from your local shop or something. It allowed me to practice on my own time and help me decide if I wanted to continue with snowboarding. Of course I did and after two years of renting, I purchased my own board, boots and bindings. So if you don't like the sport, you don't have to regret buying expensive equipment.

    Goggles > Sunglasses any day.

Try doing some research through search engines and browsing different brands of boards and such. You'll soon get a good feel of what brands are good and what arn't so popular.

  5. Well first ill tell you this, You really want to buy some snowboard pants when you start because you will fall alot and if you wear jeans your but will get really wet. You also want to buy googles so that you dont  get snow blind since it gets really bright.

You should deffinatly want to take lessons. You dont want to start out with bad habbits.

  6. Goggles are best, you need, snowboard boots, a board and binding and snow gear of course. Don't rent your stuff because they never size you up right. Next you need to get sized up for a board, go find a shop that has stuff from last year and find your size, hold the board up it should be about chin length you really don't want a longer board it hard to learn on. these site should help after that! Good luck

  7. the good brands for snowboards are: Burton, Rome, Ride, K2

good brands for apparel: Columbia sports company, The NorthFace, Burton, Sims etc...

I think it is better to wear googles because it doesnt fall off as easliy. Plus, you dont always have to constantly push up your googles (like what you do with sunglasses cuz they were slipping...)

good google brands: Oakley, Spy Optics, Scott, Smith, Bolle and gordini

  8. Take a set of lessons that include the equipment and boots and lift ticket. Many areas  have this package of 3 days for less than $200.  It is better to wear goggles not just sunglasses. When you are moving, your eyes will get windburn and become quite dry.  You will also need a jacket, waterrepellant pants, a hat/helmet, and gloves.   Have fun.

  9. FIRST! if youve never gone before i suggest renting.. you dont want to buy expensive stuff if you end up not being into the sport. and second if youve never gone before you dont know they style of riding you enjoy..

    board styles..

freeride board - for cruising down the mountain

    freestyle board - for park..jumps..rails..boxes..etc

all mountain board - does well all around the mountain (park included)

if you already know your style.........

first of all when sizing your board.. dont listen to the between the chin and the nose thing. just a rule of thumb that doesnt work for all people...

look at it like this... two people. both 5'7" (nose is in exactly the same place) one is 115 pounds and the other is 200 pounds. they will obviously not ride the same board. go to http://www.frostyrider.com/tips/size-gui... and put in all of your info and it will give you an appropriate size range and also some suggestions if you plan on buying.

you need boots and bindings as well

boots depend on the fit. some fit better on narrower feet for example. it would be best to not buy those online if you dont have to (try on in your local shop)

they also depend on style. freeride (stiff boots), freestyle (flexi boots), all mountain (in the middle). mine said all mountain right on the box....

bindings also depend on style and size of boot

-they come in sizes like small medium large with boot size ranges that would work best

definitly goggles over sunglasses.. more protection from wind and boarders that wear sunglasses just look..odd

outerwear - PANTS good ones that keep the moisture from your butt lol especially if youre just starting out you will be on your rear a lot

...jacket gloves hat gator(scarf) long socks(you can buy 'snowboarding socks')

burton makes great outerwear as well as columbia. i wear both and they are fantastic..

by the way.. i took one lesson and the instructor had no clue how to teach..so i ended up teaching myself and getting some pointers from a friend... so i couldnt rely on my resort to teach me but i would suggest tryin a lesson.. they may be really beneficial where you live.

well that should be enough to get you started...

good luck buying your board!!! (if you are)

    and have funnnn riding!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you'll love it! its the best sport

    and p.s.

when you go to your local shop and talk to the professionals they can answer all of the questions you have.. and i know you probably have A LOT since you dont know about the sport.. that would be your best bet but i tried to give you a slight idea of the basics....

again good luck and i hope i helped you out a little

EDIT: forgot to include some brands!

boards: nitro, rome, ride, burton, capita, gnu, libtech, and  more but i cant remember all of them lol (im in the process of gettin a new one)

bindings: ride, burton, salomon, (most good board comps have nice bindings) (i have salomon and i like em)

boots: thirty-two, burton, salomon (i have salomon and i like)

goggles: spy optics, oakley, anon optics, scott

    outerwear: burton, columbia

  10. Practice.

    Sunglasses = to look cool.

    Goggles = safer

    Hahaha.

  11. burton is the best but wicked expensive sometime so just go to dogfunk.com and look at the brands and stuff. goggle never sunglasses
