I'm learning an axel- I get enough height but can't rotate tightly enough to finish the jump.?

  1. That is a problem that I had for a LONG time when I was learning my Axel. The solutions are different for everybody, But what helped me was to pull in as tight and strong as I possibly could and trust myself to land it. Have you been doing axels off ice? If you haven't, you will find that it helps you a lot! Also, ask your coach if he/she can put you in the harnus (Most rinks have one).

  2. try doing waltzjumps into very fast back scratch spins.

    just focus on rotation.

    bribe yourself, like "if i rotate this jump i'll get to watch one hour of tv, if i land it i get 2."

    easy bribes help alot.
