  1. there are CDs you can buy from stores like best buy...

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?...

  2. You should get a DVD! Seeing exactly what to do on film will help so much more than looking at a static page. There must be lots and lots to choose from!

Once you get the hang of the basics then a program like 'guitar pro' is great (you can download a test version).

Good luck! Persevere even if it hurts your fingers a bit at first and is frustrating... Once you know a few songs to practice, you'll be fine. It's just the first couple of weeks that are a pain...

  3. I don't know what website you found, but here's one that I use for reference:

    cyberfret.com

Click on Beginner Guitar Lessons under the section Learn Guitar. Go in order of the pages, starting with the first link.

  4. tab browsers, simple sheet music, not staph, that will help you advance your skills to play by ear, and help you to find your own playing style, and after some practice you'll just start to jam.

  5. If you haven't, check out ultimate-guitar.com and 911tabs.com

You will want to download Power Tab and Guitar Pro 5 software, Guitar Pro isn't free, but you can add coefficents to the tempo to slow it down to quarter, half, three quarter tempo, and speed it up to one and a quarter, one and a half, and double tempo. You can also isolate individual guitar parts if you wanted to see the rhythm or lead section individually

  6. its pretty easy to start learning but soon you will be in a rut. Only site i ever used were just any tab sites. Once you learn the tabs you basically just mess around and make it your own. Question is do you know how to play/read the tabs? If you do i recommend going to youtube and search for a song you like and listen to it, then got to a tabs site and look up that tab. (mxtabs.net is a good one) Then basically play a little of the song to get the tune, then try to play it yourself. Keep doing that and you will get the basics. As for advanced material i would search for guitar chords, and just memorize that the chords and thats about it. I know harder than it sounds. I also recommend going to your nearest book store and purchasing a guitar for dummies book great info. Hope it helps you some.

  7. my friend learned from a book

thats what im going to do when

i get my electric (: good luck!! <3
