Hi guys, I'm in a bit of a dilemma here. Due to this new rule about US Citizens having to bring their passports to Canada, I'm screwed. I was going to renew my passport about now, and my parents decided to leave for Montreal in less than two weeks. I read the department of State passport things, I have to fill out a DS-11 for if your passport was issued before you were 16, and go to a passport agency in NYC and make an appointment. Cool, but they require a ticket or something to prove i need it in two weeks and we're going to be driving there. So what do I do? And if I do go in person with everything ready, will I get my passport in less than two weeks?

Somebody please help me out. This is our family's last/one of only a few vacation before I go off to college for 5-7 years, and I don't want to s***w it up.

  1. If your flying to Canada you definitely need a passport... but if your driving, I'm pretty sure you won't need one until next summer. So make sure your parents drive ;) haha

  2. you do not need a passport if you are driving to Canada, just government issued photo ID and a birth certificate

if flying you need a passport

  3. You will need to pay for expidited service... Even then, you may not get it in time...

You might be better off having one of those agencies do the paperwork for you and submit it on your behalf because then you will know that there won't be any s***w ups that will delay you.

It is worth the money to have it expidited...

    Good luck...
