I'm looking for a REALLY scary novel to read! What is the scariest novel EVER???

I'm in love with horror novels but I don't find any of them very frightening! I find Stephen King's novels to be thrilling... but not scary at all.

Is there a book out there that can actually scare me???

Also, I'm more into realistic novels and not fantasy.

try House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski.

it's the only book i've ever read that i actually found scarry, it looks like a big long book, but the writing style fools you. some pages in the book are blank, others with just a few scattered words.

It's about a man who reads these notes, that are written about a family who has moved into a new house.

the house starts to shift in size, and people become lost inside their own home.

the reader of the notes starts to question himself as well, so it's like 2 stories going on at once.
