I'm looking for a book or books on bits, something to show pics and describe what they are used for.?

You can start here, it does a lot of explaining, there are lots and lots of very informative web sites that have photos and descriptions of bits.  good luck.

This way you can get the information without having to buy the books, you can always copy and print any information that you want to keep as references.

This book is awesome - TONS of information, yet easy to understand.  Lots of photos and explanations, too.

The internet has so much info on everything now that you might find the info you need is already at your fingertips. (Although I still love books! - they dont hurt your eyes! lol)

The Complete Book of Bits & Bitting by Elwyn Hartley Edwards.

(This book is mostly about bits but nothing about tack)

Essential Book of Horse Tack & Equipment by Susan McBane.

(This book is about the tack but has very little on bits)
