Question:

I'm looking for a dog, and I need help?

I'm looking for a Mix dog. However, I need help finding a primary breed for the mix. It's a dog for my sister. She wants a friendly dog that is small, doesn't shed/sheds little, and is loyal. Those are the only qualifications. Again, she wants to adopt and get a mix, but I'm looking for a mix that would have those qualifications (or at least one of the breeds would fit that).

  1. Try petfinder.com it may have the dog you want.Hope I helped.

  2. Depends on how small...beagle mixes might be a good choice.

  3. Just make sure it's not a pitbull. God, I hate those things.

  4. I got a shih-tzu for my sister and your description fits her exactly. She doesn't shed at all, she's pretty small, and will do anything to please my sister. She is also very loyal to the rest of the family.... keep in mind they are a little spunky. I think adopting a mix is a great idea. Good Luck!

  5. haveneses dont shed and are great dogs

  6. I would go with any mini or toy poodle cross. They tend not to shed and are very good companion dogs. I have a terri-poo, He is a Soft coated wheaten terrier mini poodle mix. He doesn't shed at all. And is great with all children. He is also good with strangers but does provide a warning bark when our property has been entered, someone comes too our door, and when a person who does not live in the house invades the personal space of our children.

  7. All dogs shed!! How about choosing a dog/puppy for your lifestyle not qualifications! Check out www.eliteblitz.com

  8. i would suggest a toy poodle because they are very obedient and hardly ever shed. They are very friendly and very small they practically always stay the same size.

  9. Well, of course you'll want a poodle mix. A poodle mixed with a Lhasa would be a good bet, but I haven't seen very many Lhasa (or Lhasa Mixes) in shelters in my area.

  10. I have a Long haired Chihuahua Teacup Poodle mix. He's under 3 pounds, very smart, loyal, cuddly, adorable, doesn't shed, and easy to groom. getting a small dog "mix" is going to be difficult, if there's only two breeds its considered a "designer dog" and can be just as expensive as a pure bred. Your best bed would be to go to your local animal shelter and adopt a small dog from them. Good Luck and Have Fun!!

  11. A lhasa apso fits everything you mentioned.  My family had the same list of qualifications, but we wanted a purebred.  Our little Pygmy never sheds or barks.  She is playful, but not a dog that you keep outside, loves to snuggle, and is very attached to my family.  As a breed, lhasas become especially attached to one person in the home, usually the person who takes care of them the most.  You might have trouble finding a mix with a lhasa in it because they are rare (at least in my area they are).  A more common alternative would be a shih-tzu, as it is a breed that is a cross between a lhasa and another breed.

I'm sure whatever mix you decide to go with will be adorable!  Good luck to you!

  12. There is no such thing as a "totally" non-shedding dog. All dogs shed at least a little hair at one time or another. There are however dogs that shed little to no hair.
