I'm looking for a good 35mm camera. Any ideas?

I'm taking photography class at school so I need a camera.

SLR or Rangefinder

Under a $100 if possible

Is there a used camera shop in the Chicago area...I live in a chicago suburb?

Nikon FM-10

It suits your budget (even a new piece) and provides almost all the basic functions. It even has a DOF preview.

You can also find a gem (from Nikon) if you look for second hands on ebay or somewhere similar.

I love 35mm film SLRs so I'm an expert here. I've gotten all my 35mm SLR film cameras from eBay and have never had a problem.  you can get Canon Rebels or Minolta Maxxum's for only $50.  I've also gotten old scool Pentex K1000 and Pentex ME Supra which are all metal bodies with manual focus and metering.  Real classics.  You can get a Nikon N75  for about $80 or Nikon FG-20 for only $50.  It''s rediculous how prices have fallen for this old school technology.

While most large camera stores do have used cameras for sale, take a look on craigslist for a good used Nikon or Canon 35 mm SLR in the $50 to $200 range.  This will include a standard zoom lens.

Go to http://www.adorama.com/ or http://www.bhphotovideo.com/ and look for a good used Nikon or Nikormat. you can get a solid camera in good condition that will do what you need for class. Both of the companies have a good reputation and thier descriptions on used gear it accurate

Adorama has Nikon N-2000 for around 50 US for the body, and a used Nikon N6006 in -E condition for about the same.  Nikon N-8008 in V condition are nearly the same. You can get a used 50mm F1.8 lens easily for around 50 so you will have a usable camera for class for 100
