My daughter is only 20 months old but; we read EVERY night before bedtime. She doesn't really care about what I'm reading as long as I'm reading something to her. I would really like a book with a few pictures in it maybe one I could read like a chapter a night to her. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated! Thanks!

  1. Good, low-level chapter books that I always liked was The Magic Treehouse series.  Very cute, some pictures, fairly simple concept(s).  Enjoy!

  2. i love the junie b jones books.

    they're great! especially for kids

  3. Better for a 20 month old would be picture books... the bright, vivid colors are more interesting to young children.  The storylines are also simpler, with less details.  This gives you the opportunity to gear it up for young children by pointing out objects in the pictures, and allowing her to do the same.  This is a major skill for young children in terms of development.   They also love books with a rhyme or other cadence.

    Some great books are:

    -Chicka chicka boom boom

-I ain't gonna paint no more

-If you give a mouse a cookie

    -Little Critter books

    -Dr. Seuss books

-Eric Carle books: The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Brown Bear

Just look in the children's section at a bookstore... there are so many choices and so many great books- you'll find it hard to choose!  Both of my kids love books, and have a ton of them.  Books are a great way to introduce your kids to language, help develop vocabulary, learn about cause and effect, be able to put a story in order (sequence), and develop memory skills.

  4. Goodnight Moon

    Clifford Books

    Curious George

    anything by Sid Hoff

    Dr. Seuss books

    ^all classics for good reason

stick with picture books for now, not chapter books yet.

  5. A picture book called "Daughter of a King" by Rachel Ann Nunes. It is a Christian book and I like it.

American Girl Doll books are very good for people of younger age. Those are chapter books.

  6. Robert Munch books. love em, and I'm 13! they have funny pictures, and lots of words, Charlotte's Web and the Trumpet and the Swan are great books. National Geographic magazines are good too, just bring her to a book store and go to the kids book area and let her pick ones, read a bit to her, see if she likes them :)

  7. go to a goodwill  store or savers and have her choose. then disinfect it and get on with reading.  the books there are between 50 cents and $5. i donate stuff there constantly. the books especially are in good condition.

my baby girl likes the anatomy book. it seems weird for a 2 yr old, but hey, she loves it- and with her, i learn stuff too.

  8. If your looking for chapter books try scholastic.com they have books for all ages of kids.
