I'm looking to make a nice dessert and want a good (although not too pricey) chocolate to make chocolate covered strawberries. I want the chocolate to harden after dipping the strawberry in it, or harden after chilling it for a while. Any suggestions?!

  1. cadbury.

  2. This is my VERY simple cheap recipe.

    16 ounces milk chocolate chips

    2 tablespoons shortening

1 pound fresh strawberries with leaves

Insert toothpicks into the tops of the strawberries.

In a double boiler, melt the chocolate and shortening, stirring occasionally until smooth. Holding them by the toothpicks, dip the strawberries into the chocolate mixture.

Turn the strawberries upside down and insert the toothpick into styrofoam for the chocolate to cool.

  3. dont do the semi sweet or dark as suggested cause i know you wont like it so with a classic hershey or nestle and just melt it then dip and dry.. dont make it too hot..

  4. You can buy Belgain Fondue Chocolate Here:

  5. Use chocolate bark. It melts nicely and will harden if you put it in the fridge to set up.

  6. I personally use the Nestle semi-sweet chocolate bits (commonly used for cookies) as a base.  When the chocolate melts over a double boiler, I drop a couple of pieces of DARK chocolate into the mixture to make it harden.  Place in the fridge and let them get hard.  Serve with a nice warm glass of 40 year old Tawny Port wine.

you can get much information in this website, If you will check anyone blue link in website.

  8. Use the best chocolate you can afford - a fresh, juicy strawberry deserves no less!

I'd use a chocolate that you like the taste of as it is.  Supermarkets often have 70% solids chocolate in their baking/sweets section, and they're not too pricey.  They should melt and set well.

My favourites are Valrhona and Lindt - Lindt is sold in bars in the supermarkets and shouldn't set you back too much.
