from hip surgery s/p hip fracture and has moderate dementia. He is currently in another facility and has made no progress since his hip surgery 3 months ago. We are looking for a facility known for it's quality rehab(PT's/OT's) and it's work with patients with dementia/Alzheimer's. If you know of any good skilled nursing facilities/short-term rehabs in the greater Philadelphia area, please write! Thanks.

  1. He's fortunate that there are several excellent rehab specialty hospitals in the Phila area including Magee and Moss Rehab in the city.  I've done a lot of work with Bryn Mawr Rehab hospital in Malvern, which was once rated among the best in the nation (sorry, not sure about current ratings).  I believe that Moss & Magee are highly rated, also.

  2. My dad was in Willow Ridge Nursing & Rehab in Hatboro, Pa (Montgomery County, just outside of Philly). I was VERY impressed with them, especially their PTs. It's also just a really nice place. I believe Abington Hospital sends a lot of patients there. I'm not sure about their policy on dementia, you'll have to call and ask. Good luck.
