I'm looking for a good taco salad recipe.?

I've had one with Miracle Whip for the dressing part, and that was great. Does anyone have that? Or the one with Catalina, or French dressing?

  1. My favorite way to make taco salad is to cook the ground beef  with diced onions add the taco seasoning and water after draining the fat. Add a can of corn, bottle of taco sauce, can of green chilis and simmer until warm.  Meanwhile take flour tortillas spray with Pam (or any type of cooking spray) and bake in oven at 350 degress for around 10 minutes, or until brown.  Put the ground beef mixture over lettuce and top with broken up tortillas, cheese, sour cream, etc.  Very tasty, one of my husbands favorites!


  2. TACO SALAD TOSS

    1 1/2 lbs. ground beef

    2 packets taco seasonong

    1 sm. can green chilies

    1 sm. yellow onion

    1 md. tomato

    1 head lettuce

    3 stalks of green onion

    1 bag corn chips

    1 bottle western salad dressing

    1 bag shredded colby/jack cheese

    1 16 oz. container sour cream

    In skillet, cook beef, diced onion, and chilies until beef is cooked - drain fat - add taco seasoning and water amount from packet and let simmer.  Meanwhile, chop up lettuce and green onion - put to the side.  Now do not mix all this together until right before you are getting ready to eat it because the lettuce will get very wilty after a while.  Pour beef mixture in a LARGE bowl, add lettuce and green onions, and corn chips.  Toss gently.  Pour salad dressing over whole mixture.  Toss gently.  Sprinkle shredded cheese, diced tomatoes, ( and jalepenos - if you like) all over the top.  Add dollups of sour cream on top or serve it in a bowl on the side.  ENJOY !!

  3. I love taco salad it is just like potatoe salad , everyone makes it different. We (my family) do ours as follows and there is never any left!!!

    Taco salad

    1lb ground beef (browned and seasoned w/taco seasoning)

    taco seasoning

    1 can kidney beans (rinsed and drained)

    1 head lettuce(cut to bite sized pieces)

    1 large tomatoe(diced)

    8 oz of shredded cheddar(we use sharp)

    1 bottle thousand island dressing

    1 bag doritos(crumbled)

    mix all in bowl than add doritos, mix well and serve right away!......mmmmm think I am going to make this today too!!!

  5. This one appears to be different then others posted so give it a try...                              Make you ground beef and add your taco seasoning. Place torn lettuce on plate layer your taco meat, use whatever garnishes you prefer,green onions,black olives ,refried beans, sour cream,guacamole,etc,   top with your favorite salsa or taco sauce

  6. I noticed the other answers had ground beef in them.  Personally, I don't like hot beef in the cold salad (the fat seems to congeal on the meat then);  and it isn't necessary, because the beans and cheese provide enough protein....

    TACO SALAD

    1 shredded iceberg lettuce

    1 can drained pinto or chili beans

    8 oz. shredded cheddar or 4-Mexican cheeses

    2-3 cut up tomatoes

    chopped fresh cilantro

    1/2 cut up onion

    sliced black olives (optional)

    sliced avocado (optional)

    Catalina dressing (or a small jar of salsa)

    3-4 handfuls crushed tortilla chips

    TOSS well together and serve

    I've made this almost 30 years.  It was my daughters' favorite summer dinner, and now my grandkids love it too.....

    1 pound lean ground beef

    1 (1.25 ounce) package taco seasoning mix

    1 (16 ounce) can chili beans

    1 (16 ounce) bottle French dressing

    1 head iceberg lettuce

    1 (14.5 ounce) package tortilla chips

    2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese

    1 cup chopped tomatoes

    4 tablespoons sour cream

    1/2 cup prepared salsa

    DIRECTIONS

    In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef and drain excess fat. Stir in the taco seasoning, chili beans and French-style dressing. Fill the dressing bottle 2/3 full of water and add to the skillet. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.

    Crush the bag of chips, open the bag, and toss the broken chips into a large bowl with the lettuce, cheese and tomatoes. When the meat mixture is done, combine it with the lettuce, tomatoes, chips and mix well. Then, add salsa and sour cream.

  8. My personal recipe brown ground beef while browing sprinkle generously with taco seasoning mix. You will need aprox  2 1/2 #  of GB  once done drain and return to skillet. Add tomato sauce may need two cans, then add a large can of refried beans once the right consistency is obtained cover with shreded cheddar cheese. place the finished product on the center of a plate top with guacamole,sourcream,tomato's and lettuce if desired.  I use lime tortia chips for dippn mmmmmmmm good..
