We have about 25 employees, some of which don't work at our office...so right now they have to drive all the way across town to come clock in, to just drive all the way back across town work. Anyone know of a good solution for us?

  1. At my hospital, we use KRONOS. http://www.kronos.com/

I believe they have many systems to fit the needs of their customers. I think it works using a telephone line, so the clocks can be put in anywhere there is access.

I haven't used it myself to do payroll, but I have seen the reports, they seem easy to read.

It is definitely easy for employees to use. There are many functions accessible to employees....IE entering PTO, special shift pay, etc.

  2. I recommend http://www.timetrex.com

It has various clocking methods, including via website, cell phone, bar codes, and biometric.  Your employees can clock it from either a website or their cell phones, which will save on gas.  For you, it has scheduling, time & attendance, payroll, document management, job costing, etc. so it can make your job a lot easier.  Definitely something to look into.

  3. Wasted time is time lost. In this day and age the honor system is used. When I started  my fob we had the same problem. There were several branches of our office and you had to originally drive to the main office and sign in and then drive to the branch site. I  suggested a honor system where you signed in at the branch  you worked at and signed the real time of the clock on the wall. The next person following signed in and their time was later than the person that was in front of them. It was called flex honor and If you were called to the main office for tardiness, signing in the wrong time or  signing in for someone else it was grounds for a group evaluation and these were used at the time of job performance and pay bonus at the years end. In this system you were given fifteen minutes a week so that you should always get your full 40 hrs. In this system your buddy is actually watching and making sure you signed in at the correct time. Later we added flex time where you signed in and as long as you put in your stated time you could leave early because you had worked over on Thursday night. We noticed that work performance improved and we had less people out sick. The honor system works as long as you explain the rules of the system, have a relieable large clock on the wall and use  the bonus evaluations. We were losing , maybe thirty minutes both ways and now we have 100 % early employees and great performance  charts. These logs were for the full work week and were used for marking performance checks per day, accumalated for that week. If you have good employees this system polices itself and you are as good as your word. There are ways to give a  bonus based upon honesty. You have to trust your fellow man and give them a chance to prove that honesty. Everyone knew the rules and three strikes and you had a written notice on your record.
