I actualy need 4 of them and home build is'nt really an option, the price isn't a huge factor but the weight is, i could do with keeping them as light as possible as im looking for vertical thrust only, I've searched the net but keep coming up with plans for self build or jet powered go karts, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

  1. Friend of mine is flying a BD5-Jet he has a TRS-18.

Try a search for the Microturbo TRS 18-1

    It's US certified

The newer TRS 18-1 engine develops 325 lbs thrust.

  2. I'm not sure how much luck you'll have with this question in the aircraft section.  The smallest aircraft jet engine that I'm aware of is the Williams FJ33.  The smallest derivative within that line produces around 1,000 pounds of thrust.  Right now, there really isn't a market in the aviation sector for anything smaller than that.

EDIT:  Michigan- Good call, I didn't think about APUs...

  3. check out solar turbines. they build APU engine's
