I'm 17 years old. I live in Arlington, TX. I'm willing to work full time, sun up to sun down, with decent payment. The job I'm looking for i cant find on the internet for anywhere near Arlington. But what I'm wanting is something that involves working with livestock (ex. horses, cattle, feed, hauling... etc.). A job at even a small or large home ranch for just horse caring would suit me. Again i'm willing to work with anything needed to and as long as needed to. Thank you.

  1. I can only refer local farms, i am from Spain. would you consider working here? I KNOW A LOT OF CATTLE FARMS AND BULL RAISERS.

  2. go to your local community college and see an advisor (or just check thier job board)  you will need an education for agriculture, no matter what you do.  It's a great future to look forward to.  I love my job  (government ag specialist)

  3. Jobs like you are looking for aren't too hard to find, but they usually don't pay a whole lot.  Visit farms and ranches in your area and ask around.  Find out where farmers and ranchers hang out for breakfast or lunches and make yourself known.  If you don't mind leaving your area check adds in the farm and ranch magazines.  They usually have jobs advertised there that furnish housings.  Good luck in your search.

  4. you may want to go to this website:

    www.careerlocker.com

it is really helpful for looking at career options in most fields

  5. Your on the right track, just keep aggressively looking and being in places where you will find good contacts. And keep looking on the Internet for those jobs, they will be there. You may have to be willing to relocate. Consider the Peace Corps?

Keep looking at the Internet, but you can also look in the HELP WANTED from almost every newspaper on line.

Pick a place, like  Anytown, Texas.

Search words are "Anytown, Texas newspapers"

You will have a list, then go to the help wanted section, and also the archives.

It is there if you are aggressive.

  6. Hey, let me tell you - ranchers and farmers are almost ALWAYS looking for hard-working, reliable help. Everyone wants to work in a burger joint nowadays... Unfortunately, a lot of farm jobs don't pay too well, so you may not get the kind of pay you're hoping for.

Are you willing to sacrifice cash for an educational experience? Some ranches are now offering internship programs to teach people the ropes of successful ranching and small business management. There's a small listing of internship positions available in Texas at http://attrainternships.ncat.org/Index2_... (also try googling "farming internships in texas")

I don't think you'd get a very good income, but you'll learn valuable business principals that will carry over into other areas of your life.

I'd second the idea of putting up fliers in the feed and farm supply stores in your area - ranchers HAVE to buy stuff, so that could be a great way to find a job in your area.

  7. go to your local feed and tack stores and ask around or make a poster.  stop by farms and offer your services.  farmers are always looking for good reliable, hands that aren't afraid to work.  if you have an AG class at school the teacher may be able to help you too
