As a hs grad gift I got a ring and a car, I love my little car it's great on gas! But recently I've had alot of issues with it. My most recent? I was driving 70 on a 65limit, and my car (which is an automatic) started shifting like crazy! I think it shifted gears about 8 times at 70mph. My car was jolting backwards slightly every time I shifted. Then my Trac Off light came on. I was still a ways from home and no one I know really lives near me so I was on my own. Later that night (I gave my car a break and tried to clumsily figure out what was wrong) I drove up to a red light, when it turned green I eased up on the gas and suddently started to go backwards!! Then I hit the break and I continued to drift. I quickly pulled the break, and jumped out of my car. Holding up traffic, which I'm sure please alot of people.

Anyways So I'm looking for something new. I'm not going to ask for my parents help, they already do enough...and at 21 I should already be starting to do things

  1. Before you start shopping for a new car:

    1. Find out about your credit history and credit score

    2. Figure out how much of a down payment and monthly payment you can afford [Don't forget insurance]

If everything is right get the tC. I've been getting good gas mileage on the tC. EPA is rating 21(city) / 29 (highway). Its very fun to drive and comes with alot of options stock.

  2. You will need 1 year on steady employment with a minimum of $1600.00 a month and you will need a good credit history so that you can get the best rates possible...

The co-signer will be needed if your credit turns out bad and then you will need the help of your parents but remember that the co-signer is just as responsible for the note as you are, good luck.

  3. when you look buy American
