I'm looking for a new pet, what do you suggest?

I would like to buy a pet. Any suggestions? No dogs, no cats, preferably a reptile or a fish of some sort. I have limited space. I need something small, but interesting. Also, it can't be too expensive or complicated to care for. I doesn't have to be anything you take out and play with, but I would like it to be at least a little active. I was thinking a turtle or tortoise, but I don't think I have room. Is there any reptile that fits these guidelines? Or will I just have to get a fish? Like I said, I don't have much room...

  1. I think its a waist to buy turtles or **** like that ... reptiles ... how about a hamster?? My sister has one and the **** sits in it's cage every day.. eats at night and occasionally comes out in the ball to run around the floor JOY!!

  2. I will just say that we have had a goldfish and a corn snake, (as well as dogs, cats, parrot, hedgehog, guinea pigs). Between the fish and the snake, I would recommend the snake 10 times over. Corn snakes are quite pretty and tame, they don't get too big (pretty long but not thick). You can handle them. They can live in a small aquarium. We buy frozen mice for ours and every week or two we thaw one out and dangle it in - she coils, grabs it and eats it. Fresh water regularly, clean the cage once in a while. Really they don't need a lot of care compared to other pets. Ours is an aquarium with a screen over the top and a full-spectrum light with a timer. She is 12 years old now and we have had no problems in that time (she even laid eggs three times!). Also, she will occasionally shed her skin, leaving a full, long shed for us to pick out. Before that her eyes are cloudy and she is a bit shy. After she is very shiny and new and hungry! Fish are very boring by comparison. I encourage you to read more about corn snakes on the internet. Good luck.

  3. Maybe a gecko or small lizard?

That's what I had once but you might wanna be careful when they shed their skin, because mine died because his skin didn't come off all the way and he literally choked in his own skin.

    Weird, but yea.

    Anywayyy getting away from that.

Maybe you could get one of those fighting fish thingies. LOL I think they're called Beta fish? Yea that sounds right

Just go to your local Petco or pet store they should have something there.

Hope that helped, ignore the silliness in here but yea :D

  4. Hamsters, chinchillas, ferrets, fish, lizards, theres a lot!

Personally, I would suggest a dog or cat, but since you said no out of this list I suggest a hamster. Easy to take care of, very! I'm getting a hamster in september:). You only need to clean the cage once a week, feed it once a day, maybe two, probably not, they don't need company and they are so cute! You will only need about 75 dollars for everything. Also, if you want one that lives not a long time get a dwarf hamster (they live 1.5 to 2 years) but if you want the other breed that lives longer (they're only 2 breeds) get a syrian (which I'm getting) they can live up to 4 years:)

Most of the other animals are like this, except most don't have the same life span.

But FISH on the other hand, can be VERY difficult to take care of. Yes, many are very cool looking and pretty but trust me its a lot of work. No, I do not have experiencebut I was going to get one and found out some stuff that changed my mind. The worst part is changing the water, if you have a different temperature when you are changing the water, say bye bye to your fish:(. Also, fish you cant cuddle with them, you can just look. They're not that fun. Just pretty.

This is just my opinion. You can choose what you feel you want to buy. Good luck with your new pet:)

  5. A bird! I would have never considered it but they are AMAZING! They are really sweet and funny. Certain ones like an african grey, macaw, quaker, cockatiel, cockatoo can talk. They can walk around your house with you sitting on your shoulder and you can even shower with them! If you get one, just make sure to get there wings clipped. Do NOT get one from a pet store such and Petco or Petsmart! And make sure that they are tamed and are hand-fed! Good luck, and you should really go for it. You wouln't regret it!

  6. get a hamster or small bird!

they dont need too much care and arent expensive.

they can get really nippy though. if you want something that you dont need to interact with much, get a canary. they're cool to look at and make beautiful noises.

you might be different... i tend to neglect fishes/turtles when i get them and give them away. they dont really do much but they're good to watch. i give my pets lots of care and love when i get to interact with them often (: i'd say get a reptile! sorry i dont know much on reptiles but they seem to be a better choice.

  7. well gerbils are always fun, but if ur looking for a reptil you could possibly get a small lizard. I have a rabbit and they are SUPER fun! So, ya, but it all depends on how much your budgit is, and how much room you have.
