I'm looking for a nice restaurant near Croydon with good train or train links?

It's for Valentines night, Italian, Thai, even Mexican I guess, needs to be nice but not to stuffy. Live between East and West Croydon train station so tram or train link (not too long a journey) is important, price less so.

One of the best restaurant s in the South Croydon area is Chateau Napolean.

It is 5 mins walk from the tram, set in 3 acres of garden - and is one of my old favourites.

I know in South Croydon there are some good Italian restaurants but cannot tell you which one is the best.

There are loads of interesting-looking restaurants in South Croydon now, past the flyover. The Il Ponte (underneath the flyover) has been there donkey's years but I've never been. It was always a bit posh for us when I was a kid in Croydon so might be what you're looking for.

Try Planet Spice.  Tram to Gravel Hill and walking distance. very nice
